I'm a born and raised Jersey girl now living in the decidedly not Jersey world of Southern California. I have eight years of entertainment journalism experience with specializations in pop culture, fashion, beauty, reality TV, and music. Currently, I am a storyteller, social media specialist, and freelance writer. I also produce a monthly comedic storytelling show in L.A. about twenty- and thirtysomethings attempting to grow up called Stupid Smart Kids.
My personal essays and pop culture pieces have been featured in publications such as XOJane, ETonline.com, The Huffington Post, LA Confidential Magazine, Myspace, and AltPress. Many of my musings on the oh-so-fun realities of being a young cancer survivor on my blog Honestly, Emily.
Most importantly, I love road trips, coffee, palm trees, comedy, and sarcasm. I liberally use blue hair dye, sharpies, ellipses, and #hashtags (out loud). I am overly nostalgic for all things '90s, especially if it involves Doc Martens, smiley faces, or Nickelodeon TV shows. I can quote all of Empire Records and Gilmore Girls. I am not ashamed to admit that I still listen to emo/pop-punk music and go to Warped Tour, because I need something to defend besides New Jersey and poor dating habits.
